gap40 general basecourses
General basecourse is a general purpose quality basecourse for use on lightly trafficked roads such as in subdivisions, parking areas, private roads. It is very suitable for base formation under concrete slabs where good compaction is important.

scoria and drainage
Scoria has historically been used for drainage and pipework use. Auckland has had many sources of scoria over the years. Its weight per m3 varies much more than basalt or greywacke rocks.

Common grades

  • GSC (graded scoria chip) (no fines) used for backfilling retaining walls, soakage trenches, or anywhere drainage is required. GSC 25-7mm , GSC 50-20mm
  • SAP (Scoria All Passing)
  • Generally 7mm all in but 20mm also available, Used for pipe bedding and drainage
  • Other specialist drainage aggregates stocked include
  • F2 Filter mix
  • Cheaper slag aggregates are also stocked as an alternative GSC 20-10 and AP 10
